«Cyclone -2M» is a flowmeter; operational principle is thermal differential; used to measure gas and liquid flow; the range of measured flow is practically unlimited; sixteen-channel, i.e. is able to provide measurements in 16 pipelines at the same time; the pressure range of measured fluid is 0,1 ÷ 32 MPa; the temperature range of measured fluid is -50 ÷ +80°C; easy to install and use: certificated in Ukraine and Russia.
BASIC SPECIFICATIONS
With regard to protection against penetration of solid objects and water inside the main units of the flowmeter have the following protection degree as per GOST 14254: Bi-2M : IP40, flow transducer : IP54.
As far as explosion proofing is concerned, the flow transducers are marked as “[EXib]IIAT4X” as a part of «Cyclone-2M», comply with GOST R51-330.10, GOST R51330.0 and can be installed in explosive zones as provided for by Chapter 4 of Rules for Electrical Plant Arrangement and other standard documents regulating the use of electric equipment in explosive zones.
Symbol “X” included in the explosion protection marking data indicates special conditions of safe use of the flow transducers which means that the flow transducers are intended for stationary installation and operation under conditions of no casing electrization by friction, no electrostatic induction or no contacts with electrically charged bodies, provided the normal operating conditions are guaranteed..
Bi-2M of the flowmeter including the input spark-proof electric circuits of level “ib” are marked as “ExibIIA” as the «Cyclone-2M» complete set, comply with GOST R51330.10 and are intended for installation outside explosive zones.
Bi-2M can be connected to the explosive-zone pressure transducers provided with Explosion-Protection Certificates, whose explosion-protection marking data correspond to the flowmeter explosion-protection marking data.
Table 1 below presents the flow rate measurement ranges, depending on pipeline diameters.
The ratio of the lower to the upper limit of the flow rate range without replacement of the flow divider in the flow transducer shall be within the following values:
1 : 20 : for gases
1 : 10 : for liquids.

The limits of the flowmeter permissible relative error for a calibrated pipeline when measuring flow rates of clean homogeneous media shall not exceed ±1% over flow rate range Qmax>Q>0.2Qmax and ±2% over range 0.2Qmax>Q>Qmin. For heterogeneous mixtures, as well as non-calibrated pipelines measurement errors increase and are defined empirically.
The limits of the main permissible absolute error of the measurement and indication of a measurement medium temperature average value shall not exceed ± 0.5 degrees.
The limits of the permissible absolute error when measuring time of operation shall not exceed ± 20 s for 24 hours.

The flowmeter output signals are as follows:
1) numeric values in the flow rate units which are read out from the indicator;
2) signal of connection with PC via interface RS-232C.
All Bi-2M interfaces are electrically isolated from the spark-proof circuits.
The time of one cycle of measurements when polling the flow transducers is from 1 to 15 minutes, depending on a flow rate being measured and number of the flow transducers.
The time of flowmeter operating mode actuation after connection of power is not above 30 minutes.
The time of flowmeter continuous operation till next calibration is not limited.
The data storage time is 90 days for hourly flow rates and 365 days for daily flow rates; 100 operator’s messages and 100 emergency situations are stored.
The power is supplied to the flowmeter from general-purpose mains with the alternating singlephase current having the following parameters:
rated voltage : 220 V,
permissible deviations: from 110 V to 242 V.
rated frequency : (50 ± 1) Hz, or (60 ± 1) Hz.
Power consumption : max. 20 VA.
Overall dimensions of flowmeter components:
Bi-2M — 230x130x90 mm;
flow transducer : 60x120x(320 – 485) mm, depending on a pipeline diameter.
Length of cable for connection with PC via RS232 : max. 15 m; length of cable for connection of flow transducer with Bi-2M : up to 200 m.
Weight of flowmeter components : Bi-2M : 2 kg; flow transducer D2 : 2 kg.
Class of protection against electric current shocks : 01 as per GOST 12.2.007.0.
The pressure transducers connected to the flowmeter shall conform to the following requirements:
a) type of explosion protection : “Spark-proof electric circuit”;
b) supply voltage : max. 18 V; consumed current : max. 25 mA,
c) output signal range : from 4 to 20 mA or from 0 to 5 mA, or from 0 to 20 mA.
PRODUCT COMPONENTS
The flowmeter consists of Bi-2M, from one to sixteen A2, up to eight pressure transducers.
D2 main components: flow divider intended for arrangement of the working measuring chamber and the thermal transducer whose electrical signals depend on the flow rate value.
Bi-2M includes the following main functional units:
- analog-to-digital converter;
- single-crystal micro-PC;
- liquid-crystal graphical indicator;
- switches and multiplexers for signal switching functions;
- source for supplying power to Bi-2M functional units and source for supplying power to the module of spark-proof circuits and other Bi-2M circuits electrically connected with them;
- electrical isolation module;
- circuits of current and voltage limitation in spark-proof circuits.
Bi-2M is manufactured in the bench-type and wall-mounted modifications, it also can be of portable type.
D2 is installed on pipelines carrying the medium to be measured. The measuring cross-section is chosen within a linear pipe sections whose length before the measuring cross-section shall be equal to that of at least 10 diameters.
